In this post, I'll show you how to use Formester - The Best No-Code Form Builder to create a job application form, assign scores, and rank applicants easily.
Step 1: Create the Job Application Form
Let’s say you need to hire a Marketing Manager. We’ll use Formester to build a form for this role, and we’ll use years of experience as one of the main ranking criteria.
How to Start:
- Log into your Formester account.
- Go to "New Form."
- You can create a form manually, but to save time, let's use the AI Form Builder.
- Click on "Create with AI."
- This will open a prompt box where you can describe what you need.
Use This Prompt:
Create a Marketing Manager recruitment form with the following fields:
- Full Name (Text Field)
- Email Address (Text Field)
- Phone Number (Text Field)
- A question asking how many years of marketing experience the applicant has (Multiple Choice: Less than 3 years, 3-5 years, 5-7 years, More than 7 years).
- A question asking if the applicant has managed a team of 5 or more people (Yes/No).
- A question asking which marketing tools the applicant is familiar with (Checkboxes: Google Analytics, HubSpot, Mailchimp, SEMrush, Other).
- A question asking if the applicant has experience with paid advertising (Yes/No).
- A dropdown asking for the applicant’s highest level of education (Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, Other).
- A dropdown asking for the expected salary range ($50,000-$60,000, $60,000-$70,000, $70,000-$80,000, $80,000+).
- A question asking how soon the applicant can start (Immediately, 1-2 Weeks, 1 Month or more).
- A file upload field for the applicant’s resume.
The AI will quickly create your job application form. You can tweak it by going to the design or advanced tabs to add personal touches.
Step 2: Assign Scores to Rank Applicants
Now that your form is ready, it’s time to set up ranking criteria. We’ll assign scores to different answers so you can prioritize the best applicants.
How to Assign Scores:
- Go to the Advanced tab in Formester.
- Click on Score Quiz under Form Control.
- Assign scores to the answers for the key questions.
Example: 1.) How many years of marketing experience do you have?
- Less than 3 years → 0 points
- 3-5 years → 1 point
- 5-7 years → 3 points
- More than 7 years → 5 points
2.) Have you managed a team of 5 or more people?
- No → 0 points
- Yes → 5 points
3.) Which marketing tools are you familiar with?
- Google Analytics → 1 point
- HubSpot → 1 point
- Mailchimp → 1 point
- SEMrush → 1 point
- Other (Please specify) → 1 point each (Max Points: 5)
By doing this, you can calculate a total score for each applicant. The higher the score, the more qualified the applicant.
Step 3: Publish and Test
Now that your form is built and scored, let’s test it out.
- Publish your form and share it with your candidates.
- After someone submits the form, go to the Results tab in Formester.
- Here, you’ll see the submissions along with their scores, which you can then integrate with your applicant tracking system.
- This way, you can quickly see who your top candidates are and focus on them first.
